10th Anniversary Crying Edition

Ok guys, I know I've been absent, but even bloggers need to take a vacation sometimes (and I can't say that day I spent watching almost all of Arrested Development Season 2 was wasted). But now I'm BACK, and the new year will bring lots of wonderful stuff from Girl Glows Green: Parks & Recreation returns, Episodes (with Matt LeBlanc) and Mr. Sunshine (with Matthew Perry) are gonna be starting soon, and of course, my giant Community post is on the way. I finished watching the commentaries over winter break and now am just waiting for the giant chunk of time I call the weekend to sit down and hammer it out. But FO REALZ it should be up by next week.

The new year of shows has already started, and How I Met Your Mother turned out a bang-up episode, with NPH doing a great job as Barney's chill doppelganger. BUT then it ended tragically in a way that I can't really deal with and don't want to write about, so I might take the week off next week from HIMYM. Tragedy and sitcoms only mix when there's funny and sad at the same time. All sad, with people sobbing and whatnot, just brings us all down from the escapism of television.

But this should cheer you up! From the minds that brought you PaceyCon, here's a lovely little tidbit that shows, once again, why Dawson's Creek and the actors therein are awesome. Well, except Katie Holmes. Apparently Funny Or Die realized the greatness of this and are having a whole VanDerWeek over there with a new video every day. Anyway, I've been laughing at crying Dawson for years! And then some genius decided to make it into a gif. If I knew how to make gifs I'd make a whole glossary of Creek gifs, because they're just that awesome.

This one is pretty great, too, although would work much better with Joshua Jackson. Dawson annoyed the shit out of me; PACEY was the one I compared all my relationships to.

Happy new year from Girl Glows Green and the people on your television!

One More Reason Why Dawson's Creek Is Awesome:

Jane Lynch is Pacey's Mom. Like, for realsies. In this scene she's about to serve chipped beef on toast for Pacey's birthday, which she always forgets is actually Dougie's favorite. I'm betting you stopped paying attention about the time I said "chipped beef on toast", because that is one of those foods that always gets me thinking, "Why?"

anyway, I gotta say she's pretty funny, even in her limited role. And it's a good episode, except for the barfable Isabella Star Fairy story and Dawson and Gretchen making out in the basement. oops, sorry if i ruined it for you.

BTDubs, Pacey's Dad is the Chief on Cold Case, but that's not as exciting.

there's something about Pacey

i mean, that's the thing. there really is just something about Pacey. and bless Joshua Jackson for (a) realizing that and (b) not taking himself too seriously. oh, Josh. didn't you know that this would simply make me fall deeper in love with you? or perhaps that was your intention all along?

i really wish i could have been there to let him know that i've devoted my life to Pacey - that my adulthood has been shaped by his amazing character. i could have made Team Pacey tees! i would have stayed to listen to his fan fiction. and OMG the shirts! if you're going to Pacey-Con you gotta have the right shirts (i actually thought that guy who yells, "you're great on Fringe!" was saying "you're great on Friends!" because his shirt is SO early Chandler.).

i could probably write Pacey For Dummies.

for realsies though, Pacey is legitimately one of my favorite characters of all time. (if you want to read more about my thoughts/love for Pacey & The Creek, go here) i certainly think he's one of the best and most nuanced romantic leads on television. i definitely think he could kick Dawson's ass. and as for Joshua Jackson, like my friend said after watching this: +10 cool points to him. i think Funny or Die provides a great forum for celebrities to make fun of themselves while celebrating the people who love their work...but Josh, did you have to do it so well that you just made me fall in love so hard all over again? i can't compete with Helen of Troy, man.

in the meantime, Fringe is crazy awesome, and JJ does a stellar job (acting, as well as being sexy) on it. it's summertime...go catch up before the new season starts!
